Would anyone be possibly interested in commissioning or offering art/work/etc.-trades for fan-fictions or original fictions?

landofinkandglass:

Just, because,

1) when don’t I need money?

2) “it takes 10,000 hours of work to become a master at something”, and I’d love to practice writing as much as I can

I could mostly write whatever you want, just…. I don’t know.  Does anyone have thoughts/opinions? ;;;  I wouldn’t necessarily only take money, since I totally get not having money or a PayPal me oops—art trades, or stuff like that would be awesome, too—and even if you think you have nothing to offer, I’m sure something can be arranged!  Even just requests if it came down to it

Yes?  No?

Write a Headcanon about my character

If I like it I’ll keep it.

DANG DO PEOPLE HAVE HEADCANONS ABOUT MY CHARACTERS… that’d be neat. Throw it at me if you do.

For all the people who ask me for writing advice…

neil-gaiman:

Neil Gaiman

1 Write.

2 Put one word after another. Find the right word, put it down.

3 Finish what you’re writing. Whatever you have to do to finish it, finish it.

4 Put it aside. Read it pretending you’ve never read it before. Show it to friends whose opinion you respect and who like the kind of thing that this is.

Remember: when people tell you something’s wrong or doesn’t work for them, they are almost always right. When they tell you exactly what they think is wrong and how to fix it, they are almost always wrong.

6 Fix it. Remember that, sooner or later, before it ever reaches perfection, you will have to let it go and move on and start to write the next thing. Perfection is like chasing the horizon. Keep moving.

7 Laugh at your own jokes.

8 The main rule of writing is that if you do it with enough assurance and confidence, you’re allowed to do whatever you like. (That may be a rule for life as well as for writing. But it’s definitely true for writing.) So write your story as it needs to be written. Write it honestly, and tell it as best you can. I’m not sure that there are any other rules. Not ones that matter.

Read the whole article. It’s filled with great advice from wonderful writers…

2012: The Zombie Apocalypse is Nigh TUMBLR CAMPAIGN

landofinkandglass:

My name is Landofinkandglass, and this is the formal invitation to a Tumblr campaign I would like to propose.

After staying up too late one night I started giggling over zombies, and somehow now I’m getting out of my comfort zone and writing a story about zombies.  I have a couple friends who will be joining me.

What I’m suggesting is that we get as many people in on this as possible—if you write or draw or sing or act or sculpt or whatever it is you do.  Do a project—a  BIG project—with zombies.  Write a zombie book.  Film a zombie movie.  Draw a zombie comic.  Or write short stories, or do some storyboards, or choreograph an interpretive dance routine on what it means to be walking dead and the emotional hardships of having to see your own skin peeling each time you pass a mirror.

I think it’d be something fun, and also something to help kick-start the creative talent Tumblr has to offer.  A lot of us are talented and creative, but terribly lazy.  And hopefully this can help that.  Plus, if we all join in, it can turn from one ridiculous girl and a couple of her sucker friends and into a huge creative movement and something that’s a lot of fun.

If you do something related, tag it #2012: The Zombie Apocalypse is Nigh

It’s 2012—let’s send the world off in an ocean of zombies.

~Landofinkandglass

EDIT [2012 05 02]:

I was asked by someone taking part in the campaign how the December 31, 2012 deadline worked exactly, and here’s what I wrote, for those curious themselves:

The idea for the campaign was that you would begin the project in January, and finish it by December.  It’s kind of like a NaNoWriMo, but all year long.  So whether you finish it or not depends on your own dedication and desires.  Like… my personal goal is to get Draft 1 of 2012 finished by December.  Then I want to edit it in 2013 and then… IDK, try to publish it under a pseudonym if it doesn’t suck.   And I refuse to do a total overwrite  You don’t HAVE to finish by December, of course, and you don’t fail or anything if you keep working on it in 2013.  But yes, the original idea was that you would have that deadline to shoot for, that way the project sort of stayed loose and fun, because although yes, you have a deadline, it forces you to be willing to move on and stay quick, as well as to accept it doesn’t have to be a masterpiece, because you’re supposed to step away

Does anyone even miss this? :’D

Ha….. ha….. ha……..

………..  ;;;;;;

ANYWAY, I’m actually just posting to keep you guys updated on the story.

As you can imagine, I still haven’t really touched it lately—except to move the Story document from my Desktop and into the 2012 folder, but that’s kind of different.

**2012: A Zombie Story has not been dropped, and I still absolutely have a goal of finishing it before December 31st, 2012—the cut-off date for the #2012: The Zombie Apocalypse is Nigh campaign.**

Summer vacation is coming up for me REALLY soon weeps tears of blood and I’m starting to miss the story—a good sign, because that helps my motivation up.  I plan to work on it this summer, hopefully in tandem with SMtLaD (which I’m actually doing really well on right now!!!  : D <3 ), so I can get a lot of work done on both.

(I want to finish this draft of SMtLaD over the summer, but I mean… really…. ;;;;)

So… I guess the final result is, we’ll see, and hopefully there’ll be good posts full of angels and zombies and demons and snarky ass-kickings in the coming weeks!

~Lauren

WHO: Land of Ink and Glass_Tumblr

WHAT: Text posts, images, miscellany related to 2012: A Zombie Story. It should hopefully be 90% original content, but I might occasionally reblog important #2012: The Zombie Apocalypse is Nigh posts, or songs from the playlist, etc.

NOTE: This blog will be NOTORIOUS for ridiculous little text post updates and silliness—I don’t want to make this one as serious as my Something More than Light and Dark blog, though neither do I plan to reblog as much content.

WHERE: zombiegnawedpen.tumblr.com - will probably change it later, but for now, that’s where we are.

WHEN: Starting 20120220 (I think?); the blog was created 20120223, but should hopefully continue… well, until the Zombie Apocalypse

WHY: An internet-open project doesn’t feel official until it has its own Tumblr blog!

HOW: Posting of original content (90%), some reblogs of highly-relevant posts
